Street Chalk Soaking

Street chalk artists are well-known in St. Petersburg. They are for hire and their work can be easily seen in the Central Avenue area. One artist goes by the name, Jacob. He can almost always be found drawing in front of the live music venue at the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St Petersburg.

More pics of Jacob and his work can be found on my event twitter page for Saturday Morning Market.

He carries his chalk in a white bucket that has been stained over time. The water is murky and provides depth. Inside the large pieces of chalk float and fight for position.

St Petersburg has several other chalk artist. One such is Cheeta Ruis. Check out his work at Cheeta Art.

Is street chalk art? Are they artist? I address this in my article titled "Is It Art?"

. Right now, sunflowers are in season and are sold in bunches. This weekend there seemed to be more flower buds that had not yet opened.
